Texarkana Border Jurisdiction Note
Texarkana is a unique city that straddles the Arkansas-Texas state line. The city has two separate police departments: Texarkana Arkansas Police and Texarkana Texas Police. For criminal records purposes, the jurisdiction depends on where the offense occurred. Arrests made on the Arkansas side fall under Miller County and Arkansas state law. Arrests on the Texas side fall under Bowie County, Texas jurisdiction.
When searching for records involving the Texarkana area, be aware of which side of the line the incident occurred. Arkansas criminal records for the Texarkana area go through the Miller County Sheriff's Office, the Circuit Clerk, and the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department. Texas-side records are separate and not accessible through Arkansas channels.
CourtConnect at caseinfo.arcourts.gov covers only Arkansas court records. For Texas-side cases, you would need to search through Texas court systems separately.
Arkansas State Background Check
Official Arkansas criminal background checks are processed through the Arkansas State Police. The fee is $22 online and $25 by mail. Use form ASP-122, available at cbc.ark.org. The check draws from the ACIC statewide criminal history repository, which includes records from Miller County law enforcement agencies.
Background checks cover felonies, misdemeanors, and other qualifying offenses on record in Arkansas. Results include arrest records and dispositions as submitted by reporting agencies. For mail requests, send the completed form with payment to: Arkansas State Police, Identification Bureau, 1 State Police Plaza Drive, Little Rock, AR 72209.
The online portal at cbc.ark.org is generally faster than mail. If you need a record that spans both Arkansas and Texas, you will need to request separately from each state since the two systems are not linked for public background check purposes.
